In 1980, I proudly graduated from the Art High School in Brașov. I painted for family and friends, and in 2016, the call of the mountains enchanted me.
I discovered another form of expression: to paint on the canvases of nature, narrating with colors and light the joy and mystery of these journeys.
I participated in the Brasov Blue Biennial in 2019 and 2021.
Brasov, a picturesque city, has deeply marked me, and I feel privileged to have been born and raised here. This jewel of Transylvania is a treasure trove of medieval architecture, with narrow streets and old buildings that preserve the story of the past. Every corner of this city breathes history, from the impressive Black Church to the lively Council Square.
With the spectacular nature of the Carpathian Mountains surrounding it, Brasov offers limitless opportunities for outdoor activities. From hiking in the Piatra Craiului Mountains or the Bucegi Mountains to skiing in Poiana Brasov, this city has something special for every nature lover.
Through my paintings, I began to explore my relationship with the mountains. Even though I haven't ventured into extremely dangerous activities, I've imagined what it would be like to tackle them.
I perceive nature as a living entity. Thus, in my paintings, my wife, granddaughter, and friends appear, all encompassed in the beauty and energy that nature emanates. My relationship with the mountain seems deeper and closer to me. It helps me to enhance and amplify the feeling I experience when I paint.
I perceive nature as a beautiful woman. It is my way of expressing gratitude and admiration for the beauty and complexity of nature, interpreting it through the metaphorical eyes of a beautiful woman.
The landscape is an absolute wonder; I discover a reward that surpasses any expectation. The effort and dedication I have invested to get here are justified by the beauty and tranquility I feel in my soul.
I have created some paintings in an abstract style, while others have started from a real landscape. In the process of creation, I played with colors, simplifying them and bringing them to a purer form. Through this approach, the colors gained a new intensity and vitality, transforming the paintings into vibrant expressions of senses and emotions.
The bear is an unseen yet powerful friend, deeply present, capable of taking me on a journey through time. For me is also a living lever that connects the present to the past.
Three artistic works capture my journey with Alex, the two of us in a plane flying above the ridge of the Piatra Craiului Mountains.
Like passionate about mountains,I feel and understand their music.
As an artist, I am drawn to mountains and their rugged landscapes.
The significance of roots in my paintings: Roots, whether real or metaphorical, are essential for our growth and development. Everything begins with an idea, which takes root in our minds and develops into a goal. As we face challenges and overcome obstacles, our roots grow stronger, making the final victory all the sweeter. In this process, we not only achieve what we set out to do, but we also become stronger and more resilient versions of ourselves.
In my paintings, I use a mixed technique, using various tools such as brushes, palette knives, easels, acrylic colors, and materials such as paper, string, leaves, branches, bark, lichens, and other elements.
I commit to continue translating nature onto canvas, using its means, with the purpose of discovering new sensations and exploring new horizons of my creativity.
